Angry Shadow Step Back-Nerf

Hi guys,
I'm writting this with some hope thats gonna change something...
At start of last summer, ANet nerfed no-elites shadow steps so after cast, we need to wait 0.75 second before to do anything other.
Ok, that was a great nerf for pvp... But in PvE, no one like this nerf. Some people just say it dont matter and others hate it... No one said Yes! That skills finally got nerf! NO ONE! And a lot of people said that nerf is freaking stupid.

So I just want shadows steps to be normal but ONLY in PvE because I agree it was overpowered in PvP.

Thanks to anyone here gonna say my idea is good.

I don't really think that the aftercast actually practically mattered in PvE. The reason for the aftercast was so that it gave people time to prot/run and since AI doesn't know when to prot/run, it is kinda irrelevant. Just saying k.

I wouldn't mind it being reverted in PvE but I wouldn't use shadowsteps in PvE :P

How is Arena-Net supposed to change it so that in PvE it has aftercast and in PvP it doesn't...? It's a mechanic, not part of the skill o.0

Aftercast CANNOT be changed for only PVE as said above. If you want to use shadowstepping in PVE focus on those that snare or use YMLAD prior to the step.

Why it can't be changed only in PvE? They did it with Shadow Form so why not with shadow steps?

Shadow form is a skill, Shadow stepping is a game mehcanic.
I also doubt alot of people hated it, as people rarely used shadow steps in PvE anyway.

Yeah, afaik, game mechanics aren't as easily segregated into PvP/PvE as skills are.

Shadow Steps were abused by Warriors and Dervishes. My idea to fix it would be to add a "All your non-dagger attack skills are disabled for 10 seconds" to the effects just like in [[Wastrel's Collapse]. If not that, at least something that gives back Assassins their shadow step, but can't be abused by other professions. An Assassin's attack chain is fragile enough and easy to mess up. Removing the aftercast for them wouldn't make them over powered.

ANet has selectively added, reduced, and removed aftercast delay from skills before. See Ranger interrupts and PBAoE's. I suppose it's possible they could make PvE versions of the skills without the aftercast, but would anyone notice? It's not like aftercast is listed in skill descriptions. I don't really care one way or the other, but .75 seconds aftercast seems a reasonable price to pay to teleport across the map. YMMV.

It cant be a shadowstep mechanic. Shadow Walk and Shadow Fang both do not have the aftercast. Yes it can be said that Walk is a stance so cant, but fang is both a spell AND a shadow step, no different from Aura of Displacement or Shadow Prison. Yet it doesnt have an aftercast, so the aftercast is not pinned to the game mechanic.

Btw im not saying that shadow fang is a good skill, imo its pretty horrid. Im just pointing out that the aftercast is pinned to skills, not the mechanic.

Only Death charge and Dark Prison have aftercast so no it cant be mechanic.

All of the PvP/E differences are mere number changes. The functionality between the skill versions is always identical.

Sin's promise + combo + shadow fang is the only reason I'd use shadowstep in pve anyway. The long recharge makes them of limited use otherwise.

so does shadow prison, aura of displacement, etc. just about every aggressive shadow step will have aftercast.

aftercast as a mechanic was added to these skills. however, the pvp/pve segregation probably does not allow for skills to be seperated based on it. from what i've gathered, the pvp/pve split can only apply to effects listed in the skill description.

of course, you don't particularly need aggressive shadowsteps in pve. after the AI change a while back, all it does is completely mess up your hero/hench team. if you're still dead set on having it, use what my old guild had done: use a melee character as an anchor, and use Return on that character for aftercast-free shadowstepping.

I agree with the OP.

PvP qq should not effect PvE and vice-verse.

It should be easy to implement, problem is nobody really cares anymore.

Just roll MS/DB spam like the rest of us do.

If your not a sin...adapt and move on.

Good luck.

I like ac1inferno's suggestion. 10 seconds of disabled non-dagger attack skills are balanced.

Wrong idea because the problem is not to cant attack for .75 the problem is that we cant cast a spell after it.

The benefits of removing the after cast from PvE shadow steps aren't worth the effort it takes to make PvE versions of all of those skills. If you want to fix this easier, make a PvE shadowstep skill, like take [Ebon Escape], and let it target any creature. My kingdom for a PvE-skill version of Mandragor's Charge.

Alternatively, use Wastrel's Collapse. No aftercast there, and it's cheap with a quick recharge.
